    What makes it fun

If you are a fan of history and art, the Elisabet Ney Museum is a wonderful place to visit. The museum was previously Elisabet’s studio where she created her exceptional sculptures back in the late 1800’s after moving to Austin. The Elisabet Ney Museum graciously showcases her work, her legacy and her history. This is a great spot to visit with the love of your life.

Shame... the museum is beautiful and has great pieces. But the visit with the family was horribly interrupted because there is a permanent homeless dude outside yelling every time you pass by. Went three times and 3/3 he was there yelling at us.

Unique building from the outside. Not sure if it's open anymore. City isn't doing any upkeep outside.

We loved this place. I love seeing old architecture in a place you wouldn't expect. There are many sculptures and paintings to see. There is also an upstairs to visit inside. Be aware that the stairs are narrow. Also outside is great for filming and taking pictures. The staff was very helpful.

One of my favorite museums in Austin. Great sculptures by Ms Ney. From Mad King Ludwig to Stephen F Austin and Jesus. Also other exhibits and a look at the history and life of her and her family. Oldest museum in Austin too. Great outside walking area and a park across a bridge with tennis and areas to picnic

Elisabet Ney was such a talented sculptress. Definitely worth the visit. The staff was so nice and helpful.

My sister and I were excited to find a portrait of our 2x Great-Grandfather. Dr Ralph Steiner was Ms Ney’s physician and friend.

Such a pretty building with so much history! I have been to the state Capitol many many times but after visiting this museum I found out that the statues of Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin we’re done by Elisabet Ney! It was really amazing to see her multiple attempts before she did the final product that was in the Capitol it’s self! There were so many other statues that you could read about and you could go all the way to the top of the building into her work/ private room! The trials behind the building were just as cute with the bridge over the creek! I would recommend going here before the state Capitol!
