Andrew “Apse” from Color Cartel is the real deal.
I met him at a car event, and right away you can tell he’s a genuine, straightforward guy who truly loves what he does. His graffiti work is incredible — he stays true to the classic lettering style while blending racing and motorsports into his art in a way that feels fresh and completely unique.
I’m still learning about graffiti myself, so I can’t speak like an expert, but every time I see his work, it pulls me in. You can feel the intention and the craft behind every piece.
He also puts on events that bring artists together, and every one I’ve been to has been a great time. He supports artists, builds community, and brings real passion and authenticity to everything he does.
If you’re into art, cars, or just want to connect with someone solid and talented, you won’t regret checking him out.

What a fun experience! I had been wanting to take a graffiti lesson in Austin, but none of the places I found on Google had any events available. On a whim, I decided to call Color Cartel, thinking that if the gallery was open, they might let us come in to look around. I spoke with Apse, and he was not only willing to let us check out his studio, but he also offered to give us a graffiti lesson just for us!
Apse shared how he got into graffiti and expressed his passion for the artistic community. He gave us a history lesson on OG artists like Cornbread and mentioned some standout artists like Banksy and DOES. In addition, we got to practice our tagging skills on a mobile wall. It was such a unique adventure! I highly recommend booking a session to learn about graffiti; you won’t be disappointed!

Cutest little graffiti art studio. They did a corporate event for us where we got a great education on this counter culture and got to try our hand at graffiti too. It was such a fun & memorable evening!

I've been here a few times for different events like car/bike nights and an experience that really teaches you some history and ins/outs of graffiti culture. Wonderful space and people here 😊

Color Cartel has created murals and art pieces in all three of our Groove stores. They are extremely talented and professional. I had some ideas for the work and they made those ideas so much better. Working through ideas was very easy and I felt as though I was almost as much collaborator as a client. I will have them back to Arizona in the fall to do more work and I will retain them to paint all future Groove stores.

Color Cartel has consistently delivered AMAZING work for me over the years. There never been an artistic or design challenge they didn't deliver fantastic results on. I have contracted them to do personal work, including a crazy garage mural all the way to logo design, and corporate murals.
The team is incredibly talented and genuinely some of the best people on the planet. They do a great job of setting delivery timelines, expectations, and communication as well.

Color Cartel is a joy to work with - they did a huge, AWESOME mural in my shop - I honestly could not be happier every single day about it :) Had it commissioned in 2016 and it is still my favorite part about the shop, clients love it, and I get to enjoy it every day. The price was way more than fair - and I would not hesitate to have them back for any and all future work I need done. No need to even get a second estimate with them. Quality is over the top, and again, been over 4 years now of daily joy, which you can't really even put a price on! Thanks so much!
