    What makes it fun

Since 1949, when Dominick Ciola started Ciola's in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the Ciola family has been providing authentic Italian American cuisine. Tony Ciola, a third-generation restaurateur, serves some of his favorite family recipes at Tony C's, as well as New York Style Pizza made in Austin's original coal-fired ovens, just like the earliest pizzerias in America. For a romantic date night, grab a slice and a great bottle of Italian wine. Take in the glittering lights while relaxing on the patio.

⭐ 1/5 — COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. WE WILL NOT BE BACK.

We should have left the moment they seated us upstairs.

At 7:00 p.m., it was 100 degrees outside in Austin. When we finally walked out of the restaurant, IT FELT COOLER OUTSIDE THAN IT DID IN THE UPSTAIRS DINING ROOM.

    That is not an exaggeration.

It was like eating in a sauna. Who wants to sit and eat a meal in a sauna?

We were drenched in sweat. I am extremely cold-natured — I am normally the person who is freezing in restaurants — and I was soaked. It became so unbearably hot that we couldn’t even finish our meal. We ate what we could, packed up the rest, paid our bill, and left.

There appears to be ONE table upstairs near the AC where the temperature is tolerable. The rest of the upstairs dining area was unbelievably hot. There were no auxiliary AC units and not even a fan in the area where we were seated.

What made me especially angry was seeing babies and small children being seated up there.

One infant in a carrier near us had a very red face from the heat. We saw other small children with red faces as well. If grown adults are drenched in sweat simply sitting at a table, that is not an appropriate environment for babies, children, senior citizens, or anyone particularly vulnerable to excessive heat.

When we finally got downstairs, it became even more frustrating.

Downstairs was pleasant, and I saw an auxiliary AC unit running. So clearly supplemental cooling was available and being used elsewhere in the restaurant.

As we were leaving, I specifically told the hostess, “You should not be seating ANYONE upstairs, especially babies.”

To be clear, the hostess was polite. She wasn’t rude or argumentative. But she also seemed completely unsurprised by what I was telling her. Her response was essentially, “We’re sorry, it’s just the way it is.”

That response made the situation even more unacceptable to me.

If this is “just the way it is,” then the restaurant KNOWS how hot it gets upstairs.

    Yet NO ONE WARNED US.

Nobody told us before taking us upstairs, “It’s extremely hot up there.” Nobody gave us the option of waiting for a downstairs table. We were simply seated in an area that was so hot we ultimately couldn’t tolerate staying long enough to finish our food.

There was even a young woman standing behind the hostess holding a fan. I told her she should take that fan upstairs for the baby.

After all of this, there was no discount or adjustment to our bill. We paid for a meal we couldn’t even stay and finish because the dining room was unbearably hot.

This is Texas. Of course restaurants have to deal with extreme heat. But if you KNOW an area of your restaurant cannot be adequately cooled, you don’t shrug your shoulders and continue seating people there.

    CLOSE THE UPSTAIRS.

    Or properly cool it.

At the absolute minimum, WARN CUSTOMERS BEFORE TAKING THEM UP THERE and allow them to decide whether they want to sit there.

It was like sitting in a sauna trying to eat dinner. We were soaked in sweat. At 7:00 p.m., we walked outside into 100-degree weather and the outside air felt COOLER.

That is absolutely ridiculous and completely unacceptable.

    We will not be back.

Upstairs very hot no ac plus we listed our name for 5 people we got text we were outside. By the time we came in they had given away our table to some one else. We got in 8 minutes and they claim it is 10 minutes. Do not seat upstairs in summer. They need fans.

One of the best places you can go to in Lakeway/Bee Cave. The food is consistently good and the service is always great. I’ve had Tony C’s in the restaurant, to go, and as part of a big catered meal for a party; it’s always so good and a great experience! The margherita pizza is my favorite and the garlic knots are addicting.

Not a satisfactory pizza. If it hadn’t been take out I would have sent it back, burnede crust and all. Don’t make my mistake, open the box before you leave.
Having the opportunity to revisit Tony C’s, my wife and enjoyed eating at the bar. My wife had the house salad and two glasses Banfi Placido, I had the Caesar Salad and two 16oz. glasses of Brewlissimo Pilsner, and we shared the 12” Prosciutto & Goat Cheese pizza. Note the difference between the two below. Mistakes are not welcome but the resolution shows that the original was an anomaly. Again, check the box, but if you venture to the bar I’m sure you’ll have an enjoyable meal.

Pizza is undercooked and vegetarian pizza has tons of odd vegetables added to it, including zucchini and spinach, not a typical pizza.

Again undercooked and raw dough paired with odd toppings and some unprofessional staff.

Truffle shuffle pizza was the only glimmer of hope for this restaurant

Very expensive for what was ordered

    Overall 2/5

Lovely new place for fabulous cocktails!! Some of the best and most fun cocktails I’ve had. The food is great, lots of options for different tastes. The staff was wonderful and attentive. There is a lovely outdoor patio and even though it is right on Airport blvd. They have don’t a good job of making it feel like you’re not. There is also a bar and tables inside. Great for a nice dinner or a causal drink with friends. Plenty of easy parking. Happy Hour from 3-6pm is 25% of all food!
Great spot! Will for sure be back!

We love this place! We had amazing pizzas. Great joint in the galleria. The nicest kid Austin welcomed us in and seated us- so friendly and funny. We love coming here and recommend it to everyone. The crowds were pouring in the first time we went which just means the food is great.

    Hill country galleria location.

Fantastic NY style pizza and really fresh pasta.

    Loved - must order again!

    • Mama Mia pizza - Pepperoni with sausage onions. Ask for less garlic. Ask for extra crispy crust.
    • Fettuccini Alfredo with mushrooms

Their house salads are amazing! To include chickpeas, and all the nice Italian touch it was like a vinaigrette, peppers, and red roasted peppers! I am a New Yorker so very fussy about pizza. The crust is perfect! Chewy, thin and crispy and we had the margarita pie and we were very pleased! They have half-price bottles wine on Wednesdays & an excellent wine list
