I stayed at the Brazos suite which is on the higher end of the rooms so this review may not apply to all. But main thing to cover is that the service is effortless and excellent. You don’t have to ask twice for anything. The rooftop area with pool and bars is also amazing. Will highly recommend to take your work there. Most importantly if you are facing south then you do not hear any noise from 6th street. This has been my biggest concern with hotels in downtown. You always hear noise till late into the night affecting your sleep and I did not have any issues here. I wouldn’t say downtown is the best place to stay but this is a no brainer if you are a Hyatt loyalist

We had an amazing stay at the Thompson Austin this past week. Harry at the front desk went above and beyond to assist with scheduling a tour from us, which may have been the highlight of our trip. Burke and Brianna at the pool restaurant/bar took such great care of us during our entire stay- we can’t thank them enough!

Luxury. Sophisticated. Cozy meets elevated. The team here at the Thompson Austin is amazing. From the call center team, to the valet, to the reception and the service team at the pool and restaurants — all amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of my stay and plan to return. It was a wonderful experience with the best night of sleep I’ve had in quite some time. Big thank you to everyone that makes this space feel so welcoming. I’d recommend staying at any Thompson Hotel across the globe.

Disappointed and Frustrated with Hidden Costs
I recently booked a stay at this hotel for New Year’s Eve, paying $400 a night, which seemed reasonable considering the promise of an exclusive New Year’s Eve party. However, I’ve been left feeling frustrated and misled by their practices. After securing my reservation through a third-party booking platform, I was informed that I should have booked directly through the hotel to ensure access to the party. On top of that, I was told that I would need to purchase separate tickets for the party at an additional cost of $150 per person (we're 3).
This was never made clear when I initially ask about the party and how to obtain tickets, and it felt like the hotel was deliberately hiding this information until after I had already paid for the room. To top it all off, the $400 price tag for the room was high enough already, and it seems unreasonable to charge extra for an event that was supposed to be part of the experience. It's extremely frustrating to feel like I was taken advantage of, especially during a time when you're already paying premium prices for a holiday stay.
In summary, the hotel’s approach to transparency and communication was severely lacking. I would advise anyone looking to stay here to be cautious about the hidden fees, and if you do decide to book, make sure you do it directly through rhw hotel and double check, terms and conditions to avoid unexpected costs. Unfortunately, my experience here has left me doubting whether I'll return.

Really modern, clean rooms and great customer service! Sabrina and Saige went above and beyond making our stay at the Thompson Austin unforgettable after our courthouse elopement! One of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had! 💕

In town for a business conference, we did not choose this hotel; rather it was booked for us by the company. It looked promising in the reviews but has not met our expectations.
The first indication this is a weird hotel was when we checked in and were told it is two different hotels under one roof. What? Same building, lobby, elevators, staff, restaurants, and all the other amenities… but different wings on the same floors, each marked by different color carpet. Oh, and you get different color room keys. Apparently there are private apartments in the building as well. Just weird.
The decor is super modern and minimalist with lots of black and bare concrete ceilings! Add to that the dim, LED lights and it makes the room (especially the bathroom) too dark to see much. I’ve had to use the flashlight on my phone to put on makeup. Add to that the awful smelling toiletries (think men’s cologne) and it’s been a challenging stay so far. The bed is comfy and we didn’t hear other guests at night, just the loud hum of the A/C fan. And speaking of loud, trying to find a quiet place in the public spaces to take a phone call is near impossible since music is blasting everywhere. We finally had to duck into an unused restaurant in order to hear. And the housekeepers are super loud so don’t think of getting any peace and quiet in your room during the day for a nap or work.
The onsite restaurants we’ve tried have been decent but not great while the conference food is just that: conference food. Not their fault the weather’s been dreary but it means we aren’t able to use the pool or outdoor patio spaces which look amazing. The gym is large, clean, and well-equipped.
We probably won’t stay here again. It’s just not my style so I’m giving this place a solid 3 stars.

Excellent staff. Very professional. Rooms have plenty of drawers and a spacious bathroom. Great housekeeping.
One drawback is Hyatt app isn't working well at this property. The mobile key feature doesn't work. Took a couple tries to activate, but when you try to unlock the door, it prompts to activate the key. The front desk said he had heard from only one person where the mobile key worked.

I recently stayed at Hotel Austin Thompson and had a fantastic experience. Willie at the front desk was an absolute GOAT and helped us out big time when we needed to switch from a single to a double bed room. His service was outstanding and he went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The room itself was clean and spacious, and the location was perfect for exploring the city. I highly recommend this hotel and can't thank Willie enough for his excellent customer service. Thank you, Hotel Austin Thompson!

I just had a magnificent trip to Austin on business for SXSW and I am so happy I chose the Thompson. I am over the moon with the service and attentive nature of the entire staff employed at this location. Everyone was helpful, professional and delightful. Even before arriving on site, I had great interactions via email with the property. It really added to the whole experience! The rooms were spacious, clean, bright, and were serviced every day without having to ask. The location can not be beat. I highly recommend this hotel for any travel to Austin.
