What makes it fun

The Hideout Theatre is a creative space for improv comedy in Austin, Texas. Our mission is to bring creative improvised theatrical entertainment to our audiences. We showcase many different kinds of improvisational theatre - from short form games to long form narrative pieces. We also provide classes and workshops for people interested in learning how to create this unique kind of art.

Super fun improv comedy shows happen here. It’s small but intimate with the audience. I had the best time. Definitely a hidden gem for comedy clubs. I love that there is a cafe below the theatre so you can grab what you want prior to going up. Reasonably priced shows.

We were excited to go to this comedy show as it was right next door to our hotel. It was the most bizarre comedy show we have ever seen. Regret going on our last night in Austin and would have chosen something else more enjoyable. Most of the audience (that consisted of maybe 20 people) appeared to be friends/family of the people performing. If we could have left without it being awkward, we would have!

Great comedy, great atmosphere, all around good time! Attached coffee shop sells beer/wine/coffee late, and the show was a great length, about 1.5 hours with an intermission. Crowd involvement was a hit. Will definitely be back!

Amazing spot to catch unique improv theater shows. The coffee shop in front of house is top notch as well, with the Gorilla Mocha being a personal favorite!

Let with no pictures, but a happy stomach...a very cool 'hole in the wall' dating back to the Western days. DON"T go to Starbucks, walk on down to this place. Real eats, sandwiches, BREAKFAST tacos! if you can get one. Coffee sublime and tastes what you would think it tastes like. The Improv portion looks like a must see as well...Cheers

I really enjoyed The Hideout Theater and coffee shop! I got a coffee before the show and it was really good. I attended the Big Bash on Friday and it was hilarious!! It was one of the best improv shows I have seen! I could not stop laughing the entire time!

Quirky little Austin place with improv skits. Good, close seating and interesting, funny ideas for their performances. The night we went seemed family friendly as well. It's located behind a coffee shop that also has wine and beer you can bring into the theater. .First come- first served seating so try to get there early if you want to sit together.

The comedians were amazing! I just wish I would have looked at their name before I did this review. We laughed and laughed and just enjoyed the hell out of the night. It was my first time there. Staff was super friendly and I can't wait to go back and enjoy it all again!!!! I think the name of the comedy trio was something troup.....? I'm so sorry! But they were awesome!

I love the coffee, drink, and snack area at the front of the business to wait until your show begins. Good amount of seats, some with views of Congress. The improv comedy shows are great, low-cost, and new show themes offered regularly. My favorite is the Maestro shows. The lower stage is larger with room for about 100 people and the upstairs stage is more cozy for about 40 people. No show is ever the same but always funny! Good date idea or time with friends and family.
