My kiddo and I came in for a 2 person private lesson on bungee aerobics over the weekend. The instructor, Amy, was fabulous. She was a ridiculously great teacher, really knew her craft and was enthusiastic about sharing her favorite moves.
We went in there giddy and she met our enthusiasm with her own. She was super encouraging and great to work with. Very engaging and present. I'm a big guy who was there with my 12yo kiddo, and she made us feel safe as she explained the apparatus and techniques, pointing out the hazards and what to do/not to do while also explaining *why*, which was so helpful.
I have nothing but praise for the entire experience. I am eager to get back up there and spend more time in a harness.
My daughter and I scheduled a private lesson, and it was wonderful. We were taught and then tried several different moves and formations. It was so much fun, and our instructor was extremely helpful and explained each move thoughtfully.
Amy was a great instructor. It was such a fun experience. As a 55+ incredible person, I loved it!
This is the only sport/exercise routine in my life I've been able to stick with for more than a year (7 now!) and it's absolutely due to how welcoming and inclusive Sky Candy is. The instructors meet you where you're at, both physically and mentally, to safely support you on your journey to better health and fancier circus moves.
For kids I highly recommend the summer camps as a place to start. The instructors do a fantastic job of putting safety first while providing a ton of fun and skill-building.
For adults I highly recommend trying the drop-in classes, there are lots of flavors depending on your interests and goals. My absolute favorite are bungee classes. As I described them to the Austin Chronicle: "Cardio & strength building & balance all wrapped up in one class, but you don't even notice because it's SO FREAKING FUN!"
I trained at SkyCandy while visiting Austin in 2021. Ashley at the front desk was very communicative about setting up appointments. I had a private lesson with Jennie and some great private training time. The studio overall was very safe and clean and everyone I met was professional and kind. It was wonderful training here and I look forward to returning when I'm next in the area. Thank you!
Sky Candy is an incredibly inclusive and supportive aerial studio. The staff and instructors are the kindest people ever. I've never felt less self conscious while working out, and I used to hate working out in front of other humans. But at Sky Candy I feel strong and I'm no longer self conscious. After several years of being a student here my instructors (read: friends) finally convinced me to participate in the student showcase. I had an amazing time and have now done 3 showcases. This is seriously the most supportive place.
If you've been on the fence, please know that I was completely out of shape when I started taking classes here. Everyone was so kind, and I've made so much progress since I started. I cannot recommend this place enough. It is a safe space for all 💜
I've been training lyra and have taken a few other classes over the past year and absolutely love Sky Candy! I started as a total beginner with no regular fitness routine, and the instructors are all great about providing alternatives for each move to help you build pathways and strength while meeting you where you're at.
As I've gotten stronger, I've explored a few other local gyms and Sky Candy is definitely my favorite. The 5-week series is great for advancing with an instructor that gets to know your strengths and weaknesses, and the studio's amenities are top-notch.
It's a really safe, comfortable space with a welcoming community, and I can't recommend it enough!
