Found this place on Instagram and was excited to try it, especially since it’s a Michelin Guide restaurant. After eating here, I’m not entirely sure what Michelin was tasting.

The whole experience felt a little confusing. I couldn’t quite figure out what vibe they were going for, and unfortunately the food didn’t help. To make matters worse, a “glitch” caused every table seated after us to get their food before we did.

When the food finally arrived, it was a letdown. My boyfriend’s $50 chicken was dry, and my seafood dish looked like an aquarium explosion on top of green mystery paste. The presentation was so confusing I thought the fish was bread.

The drinks were fine, but between the service, atmosphere, and food, this one missed the mark. Michelin Guide 2025? That’s the most surprising thing on the menu.

Amazing experience! We were served by Chris and he made us feel fully educated on the menu and at home! Will absolutely be returning!

While I did like the ambiance/vibe and service, the food was lacking. I had high hopes for this place, but sadly would not recommend or come back. The fries were cold and the food lacked flavor. The salsa & guac was good and if I had to recommend a dish, it would be the hamachi. It was overpriced for what it had to offer.

Loved our dinner on opening weekend!
Drinks: mole old-fashioned, ¿margarita?, tamarind pineapple paloma, Carajillo. All great, balanced drinks.
Apps:.guac, five salsas, tetelas. Loved the depth of flavor on all the sauces.
Mains: pork belly & denver steak with mole. I am obsessed with the quality of the steak and again the depth of flavors was truly great.
Side: Esquites - the only thing we had that was just ok
Dessert: chocomaiz brownie. Oh man this was somehow perfectly sweet and balanced.

Service was excellent throughout the night.

Overall: incredible command on flavors. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend, especially the steak + mole, brownie, and Carajillo!

Mexta is a must. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food is spot on for traditional Mexican food. We had a wonderful experience and tried almost one of everything. Guac con chapulines, shrimp cerviche, tetela, catch of the day, salmon, Denver steak, bone in cowboy, cauliflower and fries. We really went for it, lol. But tons of leftovers for tomorrow. The mole in the tetela was my absolute favorite and I’m not a huge mole fan. The margaritas were fantastic as well. We tried all of them. Mexta is it a must and definitely came to Austin to represent. Can’t wait to go back!

LOVED this new Austin restaurant! We came during their soft opening for our anniversary and they service and food is excellent! We started with some beverages and the shrimp ceviche. Then had the salmon and cabbage. I love their attention to detail, the ambiance, and service.

This is a new fine-dining Mexican restaurant located in the Littlefield Building on 6th and Congress. Obviously it's in a great location, but the space itself is reeeally sexy. The bar bleeds into the lobby of the building, we had a full dinner here but it would be a nice spot to sip a cocktail.

We were absolutely blown away by the food here. We tried the Tetela, Hamachi Tiradito, Shrimp Aguachile, Lobster Roll, Rice Pudding, and Cheesecake. Everything was unique, complex, and delicious, but for us the Hamachi Tiradito and the Cheesecake were our show-stoppers. The Cheesecake does take some extra time to prepare, but it's worth the wait.

We also had a few of their cocktails, which were fabulous. My favorite was the bacon fat-washed margarita. Just trust. And their Carajillo was simply perfect with dessert.

Last but not least, the service was on point here, we felt spoiled during our dining experience at Mexta. By our server, the hostess, and the manager, Haylee. This place is going to be a hit and I'm excited to come again!

This spot will undoubtedly be one of the most popular places in Austin in no time so come before it blows up. Drinks are delicious and unique. Food is creative, but still has a rich Mexican essence to it. Staff was extremely attentive. Highly recommend! Wouldn’t be surprised if they get a Michelin star in their first year.
