No complaints about the food or staff, but this place needs a no pet policy. I was eating my food and a customer came in with a dog. I want to enjoy my meal in peace instead of being sniffed or my space be intruded by your dog. Why is there a dog in a restaurant? It’s unsanitary and you don’t have to bring your dog everywhere you go.

This place is a vibe. We were early to our reservation but they were on top of keeping the line moving. The food options were great! We had the chicken mole poblano and the carne asada. There was a Valentines menu that also offered appetizers and dessert. I highly recommend the tuna tostadas

La popular hosted my community and I, during our goodbye party! The service and food was amazing by our server Antonio! We had the privilege of being in the patio and the music, heaters, and hill country view is the perfect energy to start the weekend! I recommend the churros and mango margarita. Thank you for hosting us.

Enjoyed our time at La Popular. The service was amazing. We had such a great waitress. The wait time for food and drinks was minimal. The ambiance was fantastic. There’s options for indoor and outdoor seating as well. The food was good. We enjoyed the Baja shrimp taco, Baja mahi mahi taco, street corn taco, and Suizas enchiladas the most. A nice experience overall!

I went to La Popular and found the food really tasty, with good flavor. I think the place has a lot of potential. I liked the vibe, kind of like a nightclub — dark and stylish, which I enjoyed. The only thing is that it feels like something is missing, I can’t quite say what. Also, they definitely need more staff, because right now service feels limited and things don’t flow as quickly as they should. Good margaritas

Party like feeling in the music choice and vibe.
The food was outstanding, super fresh, authentic, a lot of delicious flavors in harmony, with the right amount of salt.
We had shrimp agua chile. Generous plate with plenty of shrimp, freshly made sauce.
The we shared a tortilla soup, that comes thick and with strong smoked flavors. Lots of toppings that bring the flavors and textures to an addictive level.
After that we shared a tampiqueña, to be noted that none of the plates can be split in the kitchen so plan to share the plate. The skit steak was cooked medium perfectly, the chimichurri seasoning on top was also executed to perfection. Lovely enchiladas with red sauce and guacamole, on the side.
Chocolate torte, is not too sweet.

This places rocks! Great food, good portion and good price. Also atmosphere is really nice so perfect for a special occasion.

People who leave bad reviews and complain about this place are most likely unhappy in their personal life.

The flan and melted cheese are very good. We had a friend's birthday here and we paid very well. Excellent service. Very good disposition of all the staff

Made the happy hour on a Thursday. At 4:45 the line was out the door. Reservations are suggested. We had the margaritas. Carnitas tacos, chicken tacos, cachetada, and guacamole. The 4 salsas were all good. Everything was great, but we thought the carnitas were slightly better than the chicken. A cachetada is like a quesadilla with one flour tortilla instead of 2. Still excellent. Lots of after work parties.

Amazing! Place has only been open 4 days and they seem like pros. Warm welcome from the host stand, friendle engaged bar staff, well executed food which will get even better with time. Standouts, al pastor tacos, salsas and the Tres Leches was amazing!! Staff was accommodating and friendly. Great upbeat vibe out of downtown. Treat yourself and check it out!

This was an unexpected delight. Not your typical Mexican restaurant. Slightly upscale, but not fussy. The visual presentation was perfect, outdone only by the flavors. We had the Al Pastor Enchiladas and the Chicken Mole Enchiladas. I’d definitely recommend both of those. The salsa tray with the description of the various flavors was particularly delightful. Churros for dessert… with both caramel and chocolate hazelnut dipping sauce. Yum!
We’re only going to be in Austin for the rest of the week, but we’re planning to go back.
