Kinsho was just a short walk from our hotel, and it turned out to be one of the best sushi dinners we've ever had—and we say that having dined at high-end sushi spots all over the world!
Led by former Uchiko chef Victor Gonzales, this sleek, intimate 18-seat spot on Rainey Street hits every mark. The space has a moody, trendy atmosphere that sets the perfect tone for a stylish night out. Sitting right at the sushi counter made the experience extra special, and Phil was an absolutely outstanding host who took fantastic care of us throughout the evening.
The à la carte menu is incredible from top to bottom. Every dish was flawless, from the fresh nigiri and creative hot and cold plates (the yellowtail tiradito was a favorite!) to the grilled skewers cooked to perfection. Chef Gonzales’ flavor combinations—like pairing fatty otoro belly with koji chimichurri—are inventive without masking the quality of the fish.
It’s an absolute gem on Rainey Street and a must-visit for any serious sushi lover in Austin. We can’t wait to return! 🍣✨

Went here on a Wednesday night for a date and we asked the waiter to bring out whatever he recommended was popular. He brought out the perfect amount of food and excellent recommendations. I didn't remember the waiter's name, but he said he has been in the Austin food/drink/hospitality scene for the past 10 years, and he was wearing a black shirt and silver chain, and he was super friendly and delivered excellent hospitality. The Google Maps shows the incorrect location for the restaurant when you look at the street view, so when you are looking at the Skyhouse Apartments entrance/leasing building, just keep going down Rainey Street and look for the neon sign that says Sushi Bar. also i totally forgot to take photos because i was hungry and everything look (and tasted) so good

Nice, small sushi place on Rainey st. Great flavors, good service. Prices were alittle high for the experience but glad we tried it.

Great spot! Amazing fish quality and great service. Wish I could remember my waitress’ name but I was there alone and she made me feel really welcome and comfortable. 10/10

Wonderful service, great explanation on the dishes. Food is very fresh and well prepared. Great overall vibe. Highly recommend.

All around excellent spot with sushi quality that matches its price point. They have some very creative dishes. Excellent decor. Will definitely be going back.
