We made a trip from Buda and the place was closed even though Google & the website said it was open. We’ve been before & loved it and we were bringing our niece from out of state. Very disappointing! Please make sure your hours are correct as advertised!

Call before you go. Everything, including the door said they are open. We drove almost an hour to find it chained up. So disappointed

Paid a deposit for the rental of the wedding venue at their distillery and they absconded with my deposit and refuse to respond to inquiries.

Visited from Houston excited to try as a fellow veteran, but doors were locked and no sign about why during open hours. Maybe they closed like the past few reviews but if so that’s very unfortunate. Would have loved to support….

Y’all canceled an event I’d paid for and had on the books for over 3 months. Five days before the event. Who does that? Banned.

This is a great place! It is authentic Texas Sotol which is a lot like a tequila but sweeter in my opinion. The bar tender and servers were friendly and very helpful. They have a great outdoor area with fans and heaters along with a nice indoor space also.

Our visit to Desert Door was the absolute highlight of our Austin trip, and Kate made the experience unforgettable. Her knowledge of sotol is unparalleled; she answered every technical question with effortless expertise and a genuine passion that was infectious.

We walked in curious and left as total converts—the product and the entire team are world-class. Our only regret is not being local, as we’d make this our second home in a heartbeat.

If you visit, ask for Kate. She is a legend and made us fall completely in love with the Desert Door experience!

First, I must say, we did not know what to expect. There were four of us passing through and saw this distillery on the map. We had to stop. Sotol...what is it and why do I not already know of it? Well, let me explain. It is the hippy cousin of the sophisticated blue agave tequila. Grassy notes, earthy, chilling and just looking for it's place to fit in. While tequila can offer peppery notes, smooth and citrus flavors, and a little sweetness on the finish, it's hippy cousin Sotol ( made from the Desert Spoon Plant) is looking to chill and hang on the pallet with a smoky finish, offering earthy and herbal finishes like pine and mint.

Stacey and Katie got us set up! First, Stacey explained the menu in detail. We tried various drinks and I personally loved the old fashioned. Smooth and exceptional...we asked for a couple more in our 3 hour "off the cuff" visit. The staff were amazing!!! Enjoyable and relaxing live music filled the room, played by a lady named Meg. She was absolutely amazing and enhanced the experience we were having.

We toasted and celebrated my brother's 45th birthday. Moments later, Stacey must have received wind of our birthday toast and well wishes. Would you have it, she showed up with a flask of Texas Sotol, and various items in a gift bag to offer Desert Door's birthday blessings!

Unbelievable! We will be back. We had such a great experience. Stacey took care of us while Katie rocked the drinks. 5 Stars all evening!!!!

I travelled all the way from California to have a Sotol Old Fashioned and it didn’t disappoint. The Oak Aged Sotol makes an incredible cocktail. The only thing better than the drinks were the folks who made it happen. Stacey and Hayley were so friendly and engaging. They were more than willing to share their mixology with us and made the whole experience a real treat. They even turned me on to a Gin influenced Sotol that made for a delicious, refreshing and very drinkable cocktail, The Scarlet Mule. I can’t wait to go back…

"My wife and I had an outstanding experience on the distillery tour, all thanks to our incredible tour guide, Kate. She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and made the entire tour both educational and fun. The distillery itself was fascinating, with rich history and top-notch facilities, but Kate's passion and expertise truly made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic day out and a deeper appreciation for distilling!"

I came here on a Saturday with my husband and friends and we had a GREAT time! I HIGHLY recommend taking a tour with Kate and learning about the sotol making process. The tasting after learning the difference between the flavor and stages was really yummy. The cocktails were really tasty and creative, I highly recommend a flight. The ONLY drawback was that service was a bit slow. When we arrived there were only a handful of people so I’m not sure what the hold up was, and it almost seemed like we were inconveniencing them. But overall, I loved the cocktails, the tasting, the aesthetic, and the general experience.

Our servers Hayley and Holly were great! We started with the flight and then kept asking "what was that?" as different drinks kept going by us. The sotol was delicious in every single cocktail! I'll definitely be back!

Oh! And the food truck is great!!! Wild boar frito pie!

We took the tour with KB who was so fantastic! We learned so much from her and she answered all of our weird questions. Best tour guide I have ever had. The drinks are superb and the food truck is to die for. We will definitely be back next time we are in Austin!

Erin and Nicole were great! They took the time to greet us and gave us the perfect amount of time to look over the menu. Our drinks came out very quickly. The Essentials Flight was delicious. The atmosphere was really cool, and they even had a live singer with such a good voice! 10/10 would visit again!

Holy cow. There isn’t enough I can say about this place! The food is incredible! The staff is helpful. The atmosphere is perfect. And the drinks are unreal.

I loved the Paloma and the the blended drink they have, but you can’t beat a Sotol on the rocks.

Make sure Erin helps you because she’s the best!

We had such an amazing experience touring the facility with KB! This was our first time trying sotol and the tour was definitely worth it to learn all about it. The tastings were amazing and KB was really friendly and knowledgeable. The aesthetics and service around the whole facility made this one of our favorite stops in hill country. We left with a few bottles and will definitely be back for more!
