If you enjoy cooking, you will really appreciate coming here because the environment and atmosphere are right up your alley. Birdie's is famous with the locals for their impressive wine list.

Birdie’s is absolutely delicious and well worth the wait! They do have limited reservations on OpenTable, but otherwise they take walk-ins, but you can expect a line. When we didn’t have a reservation, we waited over an hour and a half, but the experience made the wait enjoyable. You can order wine or beer while you wait, and the vibrant atmosphere helps the time fly by. It’s a fixed menu where you get multiple appetizers, then choose one main and one dessert. We also went during one of their Italian-themed months, and some of my favorites were the mozzarella sticks, cacio e pepe, and the soft serve ice cream. You can also order a bottle of wine, and if you don’t finish it, they’ll reseal it so you can take the rest home. The staff have chill personalities but are very attentive and genuine. Can’t recommend enough. One of our favorite spots in Austin!

I lived in Austin for five years and I had a handful of favorite places. Sadly I went to birdies late in my tenure, a few months before I left the city. But I went every month after tried it initially. This place is special. Special like the film making of Steven speilberg. Special like ET is to a generation. Special like Jurassic park. There’s something different about this place. Whether it be the quality of the food, the walk up and order / pick your table aspect or the cool atmosphere. This places hits different. Different like the fablemans you might say. That film wasn’t for everyone. And maybe birdies isn’t either. But it’s still speilberg. It still hits. These pastas are incredible.

Been a while since I experienced no frills, non-pretentious, flavorful food. Today all their sauces were too lemon forward…so instead of accentuating other flavors, it overwhelmed them. If they tone it down, dishes would be more balanced and all flavors will interact better. Staff was well trained, full of good energy and accommodating. Highly recommend it.

Food was okay but nothing special. Pretty bummed because it was a prix fixe menu of what should have been their greatest hits. I felt like the panisse needed some sort of sauce since it was a bit dry by itself. The cantaloupe gazpacho tasted unusual. The balance of the beef tartare was off and the flavor of the meat is overshadowed by all of its other components. The steak was chewy and the sauce was way too sweet. The veggies accompanying it also needed more acidity as it was on the blander side. I did like the pasta, the focaccia, and the cornbread, though simpler and more basic. I’d like to believe that their true greatest hits lie every other night when they are on their regularly scheduled program. But since I also hated their queue system, it might be a while since I come back to find out.

We had a great time. It was our first time here and loved each dish in the menu. The desserts were a plus. We did have to wait for a bit but overall it was a good experience.

Service was friendly but very professional and knowledgeable. Food was fantastic. Creative and delicious, with a menu that changes monthly. Highlights from the Best-Of menu included their beef tartare, pasta, steak, and sweet corn soft serve ice cream. Charming atmosphere, upscale while comfortable. Highly recommend

Food and service were absolutely amazing. Wonderful and unusual menu and wine selection. Enjoyed the prix fixe menu and a bottle of white, then red wines that paired very well. Loved the beet carpacio and the dessert, a soft serve vanilla ice cream with olive oil the most. Would be interested in a return visit to try some other things on the menu and scout the wine selections further. Finally, very reasonably priced for the quality and presentation.

This was the highlight of our trip to Austin and very likely the best meal of the year. The menu is seasonal but very approachable. The staff is amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. This is the type of restaurant that makes awards like the (well deserved) Michelin Star make sense to us monies. We had their April 2026 menu. Everything was exquisite and delicate but very intentional. We had deviled eggs with pepper and trout roe, beet carpaccio, sweet onion tomato soup, caprese with ramps, sablefish and both of their desserts (pound Cake was my favorite). Needless to say this is my best restaurant experience ever.

Second time at Birdies for date night. Went super early at 5 pm on a week night right before the snow storm and they didn't have a line out the door like usually. First time I was there they had a la carte ordering. This time it was a set menu and set price so be wary of the menu costing you a pretty penny but honestly with the food and service it was worth it. Great portions, delicious warm food, great presentation, and excellent service. So def worth the price! Maybe bc it was a slow night for them but the staff was extra attentive, to a point where they were switching out plates faster than the entrees and items. Nicely done, wine 🍷 selection was extensive and expensive, worth it though if you are down to spend. Best part of the menu was the soup for me! So good I want to lick the bowl, We got the bread as extra, and paid the extra for the diff entrees so we could try both, less impressed by the entrees. On point for the dessert, both options were great. With the rotating menu I'm excited to come back and try something different next time. Keep up the good work Michelin all star team.

They have limited reservations nightly but mainly do walk-ins, so if you can’t get reservations that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. The line moves tragically slow even when they have tables open (I’ve yet to figure out why, but I’m sure there’s a reason). You place your initial drink order and modifications (if any) to the à la carte menu at the counter before being seated. If you don’t have reservations you pick your seating on the outdoor patio. As noted, the menu is à la carte and changes monthly. They have a vast selection of beverages; they have more nonalcoholic beverages than most places and the selection is great. The food is absolutely delicious and it’s quick to see how they earned their Michelin star. To date, the cabbage and evercrisp apple soup with chives is my favorite dish, but I’ve not had a single bad bite. Everyone we have encountered seems genuinely happy to work there and offers excellent service. The only unfortunate things about dining here are the parking (which is non existent - just get a ride share) and the acoustics. Everyone on the patio was shouting to be heard and it felt like the music kept getting louder as the diners did.

Pasta was extremely good (we got both). Found pretty much everything else to be forgettable. I have mixed feelings about this place. Very much a take it or leave it type of atmosphere. Overrated and overpriced. We got there early so did not have to wait at all. Cannot believe people line up and wait half an hour. The soft serve dessert is tasty, but by no means worth $16 after tip. That feels predatory. If money is no object and you're wanting a cute wine spot more than a legit meal, then this could be for you.

Don’t go only when you’re hungry. You should go an hour before you’re hungry because it’s going to take a while to get in (at least on a Saturday night). No complaints tho! I had a lot of fun catching up with my friend and they also served us drinks while we were in line. My friend and I got the beef tartare, deviled eggs, shrimp entree, the steak entree, and the soft serve for dessert!

Birdie's will always be my favorite neighborhood restaurant. I always recommend this place to anybody willing to listen. Solid service, great food, and a solid patio outdoor seating. If you like to see a restaurant's kitchen hard at work, you can see the head chef / sous chef work their magic if you sit at the bar. I totally recommend their pastas. Cooked to perfection and their flavors always pleases. This place has it where you order up front when you enter but you can always order more at the table after you are seated. No reservations! Parking is mostly street side unless you can grab the few spots in front.
