Where do I begin? Our stay here was absolutely exceptional! If you’re just skimming, here are the highlights:
1. The staff were consistently friendly and courteous.
2. Every restaurant on the property was outstanding, we tried them all!
3. Goldie's sunken bar is a true hidden gem.
4. The hotel’s design is stunning, inside and out.
5. The pool was spacious and the poolside bar was a great bonus.
6. The gym was well-equipped and roomy.
7. Our room was large, quiet, and immaculate.
8. The common areas were inviting and perfect for relaxing with a drink or coffee.
9. The hotel’s location is great, walking distance to several restaurants and Trader Joe’s.
10. The Domain shopping area is just a short drive away (about 10 miles).

Now for the details:
My husband and I stayed here for six days to celebrate my birthday and enjoy a bit of relaxation before I started law school. From the moment we arrived, the service exceeded our expectations. Valet staff promptly took care of our car and bags, and check-in took just a couple of minutes. The front desk team was incredibly helpful in answering our many questions about the hotel and its amenities.
We stayed in the Grand Room King with a pool view on the 11th floor. The room was not only spacious and beautifully maintained, but also wonderfully quiet throughout our stay. It truly felt like a serene escape.
What really stood out was the staff, everyone from management to valet, housekeeping, restaurant servers, bartenders, spa attendants, and pool staff made us feel welcome and appreciated. Every interaction was positive and genuine.
We spent time at every restaurant and bar on the property and loved each one. Every space had its own unique vibe and thoughtful design. Goldie's was a favorite of mine. Kevin, Ernan, Randi, and Jasmine went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. The drinks were phenomenal, and the atmosphere was relaxing and fun.
At the pool, we had a cabana (though we spent more time swimming than lounging), and again, the service was top-tier. A special shout-out to Fedor, Justin, and Makayla for their attentive and friendly service.
Dining at The Peacock and La Piscina was another highlight. The Peacock, in particular, had some really creative dishes and beautiful decor, I often found myself admiring the attention to detail between bites. Tyler provided excellent service and had great recommendations.
The hotel does get lively on weekends, especially in the bars and restaurants, but it never felt disruptive. Access to guest-only areas like the rooms and pool is well-managed, so our stay remained peaceful even when the public spaces were buzzing with activity.
Overall, our stay couldn’t have been more perfect. It was a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday and decompress before diving into the rigors of law school. Thank you Anis and Giulio for helping make it so memorable!

We spent more time than usual at the hotel because it was so enjoyable. Bar was always looking so fun and on the last night I had a delicious light bite and martini just right. La Piscina is excellent and breakfast very good at Peacock. Rooms are comfortable with great shades and Aesop product. Also incredible shower and super decor. Coffee in Goldie’s also great perk. Can’t wait to come back!

Favorite hotel in Austin. Interior design is sleek and makes this place. Beds/rooms are great, pool is fantastic to hang out in and the Mexican restaurant poolside has phenomenal fajitas. Even the elevators with the hanging animal hide are spot on. The gym bathrooms have a great steam room to start the day as well. Don’t hesitate to book this place.

I’ve stayed at Austin Proper a couple of times. The attention to detail and communication with the staff is excellent. The coffee service is the morning is SO lovely and the sweet attendant is so kind. Anis and his team really care about their guests. I can’t wait to return.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Proper Hotel, and I must say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The valet service, in particular, left a lasting impression on me. As soon as I arrived, they promptly opened the car door with a warm smile and greeted me with genuine enthusiasm. Their attention to detail was remarkable, as they complimented every aspect of my arrival, making me feel like a valued guest right from the beginning.(Thanks for grabbing my shirt)

The hotel itself is an absolute gem, boasting a myriad of immaculate features that left me in awe. The culinary delights offered were simply out of this world. From the exquisite breakfast spreads to the delectable dinner options, each meal was a delightful journey for my taste buds. The culinary team's expertise was evident in every dish, and the impeccable service added to the overall dining experience.

Austin Proper is amazing. Great location, excellent rooms, and outstanding amenities. The workout facility is exceptional, and the room service menu has many healthy options. The valet even has an app that can be used to request your vehicle and leave a cashless tip. Highly recommend with no negatives whatsoever. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

I must start this post by letting you know . I travel often for pleasure and for work internationally. This is by far the best Hotel I have ever stayed at.

Upon first arriving and being Greeted by the Valet I did not catch his name but he was pleasant.

Then walking in and getting welcomed in by Matthew at the front desk, who made sure he told us all about the hotel and his professionalism was superb. I was planning something special and he got the ball rolling on what was an epic weekend.

The next morning I received a Call from Louie The Manager, that he has upgraded our room for the special occasion. I went down to the Check in station, and he planned the perfect day for us. I mean planned it to the T with a picnic in Mayfield Park and to see the sights at the Oasis. This is unmatched service. I applaud you Louie and thank you for making this weekend the absolute best.

Then our final encounter with Leah who is extremely nice, caring and Genuine. She asked about our stay and she also told me about a last place that we must visit to end our trip on . It did not disappoint.

We have stayed at Proper hotels several times but this experience was on a whole other level.

This is my forever hotel and brand . Thank you to the Proper Team Austin for making this weekend AMAZING!

Absolutely loved this hotel. From the moment you pull up to the front of the hotel it's a full-service experience. All of the staff, valet, front desk, restaurant hosts, housekeeping etc. were incredibly kind and helpful; they consistently asked if I needed anything or if I was comfortable. The hotel is well decorated; each common area space (the conference rooms and lobbies) feel like you're sitting in a well-designed, chic, and comfortable living room. The King-Size room was amazing; automated lights and curtains, comfy robes and slippers, high-end toiletries, and a comfortable bed that you just want to sink into at the end of the day. Loved everything about my stay!

Stellar hotel experience!

I stay in Austin often for work and got to enjoy this stunning location for two nights. Everything is made to give a natural feel while maintaining modern aesthetics. From the greeting at the door to the careful measure of comfort and accommodation by the staff it was great from beginning to end. The two restaurants on site while a bit pricey (expected as the hotel is 5 star) were both absolutely delicious. The Peacock (Mediterranean) and La Piscina (Mexican) were some of the best meals I have had. Plenty of food and shopping near by. The room whole a bit small per square footage were built to keep you comfortable. Almost everything has a control to it - window shades/blackout curtains/lighting all at a touch if the finger with control panels by the door and bed (can reach while laying down). I hope to get the chance to stay again, but if you don't have corporate pricing expect to pay $4-500 per night during the busy season.

Visited Verbena Spa at Austin Proper Hotel as a non-hotel guest in early December for the Body Planing: The Proper Renewal body treatment. My spa experience was peaceful and serene.

I felt an immediate sense of calm as I entered the reception lounge. I received a warm welcome by the spa host. Love the decor!

After a tour of the reception lounge and dressing rooms, the spa host recommended a steam before my body treatment. My service provider, Robyn, was great and thoroughly explained my body treatment.

They offer both energizing and detoxing drinks and nutritious treats to enjoy before and after your experience at Verbena Spa.

Highly recommend!

Hotel is beautiful and service was great. I had room service and the food was great and fast. One steak was undercooked and I called to let them know and they made it right, above my expectations. I would definitely stay again. I used American Express FHR and had a welcome gift of fruits and dates, a glass of champagne, plus other benefits. Everything from valet to check out was top notch. Thanks for making my stay perfect.

I’m currently in the middle of my stay and I felt compelled to write a review. I travel often for work and this hotel is amongst the very best that I have stayed in. I have, what I assume to be, a standard room facing the street on a mid-level floor. The bed is extremely comfortable, the room is quiet and perfect for sleeping. There is a table and couch from which to work, but no desk which is manageable. The bathroom is nice.
