Awesome spot! Close to downtown, easy parking. Great for families, as there is plenty to keep kiddos entertained. Couple of trails, too. The rescued animals were a big hit.

Nestled within Zilker Park, the Austin Nature & Science Center is more than just a museum; it's a sanctuary for injured and abandoned animals, a haven for imprinted ex-pets, and a wonderland for curious young minds. My recent visit left me awestruck by the center's dedication to animal welfare and its ability to ignite a love for nature in children of all ages.

Beautiful place. Great to come and explore. Although entry is free please donate to help keep places like this thriving!Pro Tip: if your child likes getting messy exploring, bring a change of clothes!

What a great spot for kids and adults! Nice paths, lots of signage, cool birds, a bobcat, turtles, and lots of different trees and flowers. Even with school field trips, it was a relaxing area. The staff were super friendly and helpful, one even providing a bit of info on some of their owls while she tended to them.Parking is free but across the street, under the highway in a dirt lot. After a short hike, you get to the main building. The cost is cheap, but hopefully you feel compelled to donate more to help with their operating costs and improvement plans. There are a couple exhibits in the building, restrooms, and a discovery area (different rocks, fossils, small animal skeletons, etc). Outside, there are several play/picnic areas. Lots of benches on the trails, many in the shade. Simply a great place to spend a day.
