What makes it fun

Salt Lick BBQ has been famously making succulent smoked meats since 1967. Walk into this glorious meat palace, you will smell the mouthwatering aromas of the open pit where they smoke their meats right in front of you. The property is gorgeous with string lights twinkling throughout and picnic style wooden tables for seating indoors and outdoors.

Fantastic place. Incredible atmosphere.I did the family style (all you can eat) where they just keep bringing whichever you want more of. Great for trying 3 meats and 3 sides, and bread etc.The ribs were fairly good but nothing special (a little dry), and the sausage was kinda average to me. But that brisket. Oh wow. The best brisket I’ve ever had. It was so good. I’m normally not really a brisket guy, give me pulled pork or ribs 9 times out of 10. This was special though, I guess Texas does brisket best (especially this place). Now the sides. This was the biggest surprise to me. They were absolute fantastic. The coleslaw and the beans were both amazing, and the potato salad was the best I’ve ever had. All of them very unique and delicious. I was more excited to eat them then the ribs and sausage. And their barbecue sauce was excellent also.I also asked for the famous burnt ends of the brisket, they were a new delicious experience as well. They even let you go up close and look at the fire pit where the magic happens. This place feels like Texas. The atmosphere and feel of the place is very nice, and they have the wine cellar and grape fields, and even Dr. Who Police Call Box.Shout out to Man v. Food as always for continuing to introduce me to all of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to.Great place, great environment. Highly recommend.

Paperboy is definitely one of my favorite brunch restaurants! Everything is delicious, and the ambience and service are both good. In savory items, fried chicken biscuit, Texas hash, cheddar hash, avocado toast kale salad are good. In sweet items, cinnamon toast is great. In pastry, both peanut butter & chocolate pop tart and bacon & caramelized onion galette are delicious. Overall, we had wonderful experiences every time we came here for brunch.

So I read that this the best BBQ place in Texas and figured that was just a marketing line. I was wrong, easily the best BBQ I’ve had in Texas and likely anywhere else I’ve ever been. The meat is phenomenal, especially the burnt tip pork. Tender and juicy with a lot of flavor. The cole slaw is just the way I like it, vinegary with no mayonnaise. The space is very open and inviting and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Best of all, we ordered and the food magically appeared almost immediately. This is worth the drive and next time we’re in Austin, we’ll be going to The Salt Lick.

Hands down the best meat eating experience I've had in US so far.Beware of a few stuff though. There is typically a waiting time of about an hour and a half with no reservation systems in place. You in there, check-in in a booth with a person jotting down your name and number. You gotta wait in the many sitting arrangements outside until you get a text from them confirming its your turn.Secondly, they only accept cash for payments and tips. Make sure you get at least $30 in cash for each person to be on the safe side.I've had the Thurman's Choice which is a plate consisting of Pork Ribs, Brisket, and Sausage with sides of beans, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw. It is a huge plate and enough for one person. Everything was spot on and easily the best BBQ experience I've had in my lifetime. My friends had shredded beef sandwiches which were huge in size and enough for one person. The beef were smoky, juicy, and perfect in every sense of the word!
