The Neill-Cochran House Museum was built in 1855. It is the 10th oldest historic site in Austin and houses the only standing historic slave quarters. This place has preserved history like no other. A wonderful place to learn about the past and appreciate how far we have come. Bring your date and take a walk back in time this home filled with art, history and some real deal antiques.

Visiting from Houston and this was on my bucket list. I’m disappointed by the experience. It was difficult to get inside because of a ballet practice directly in front of the steps, on the steps, on the porch and into the entry way. We didn’t want to interrupt but were unable to wait until they were finished so we said excuse me and made our way inside. We weren’t treated by the young lady seated at the front. She was making something for the upcoming event. We said excuse me over the hustle and bustle of the ballet dancers coming in and out and asked we could tour. She gave us a map, and took our $10 per ticket payment and went back to crafting. My husband and I toured the home. It seemed pretty barren due to the event set up inside. Some areas were empty for the event. Some areas were loud and crowded for people preparing for the event. Some areas were under construction. There wasn’t anyone to answer questions and it was louder and busier than we would have liked. Needless to say, it was removed from my bucket list but I feel the experience could have been better

This place is very fun for kids, there are activities on special days like Easter, Halloween and so much more

A very cool place to visit. I went there for a wedding, walking around the museum was like experiencing life in that beautiful house. Highly recommended!

Quaint historic house in central Austin (close to campus). Only place in Austin to have known slave quarters which still exist. Good place to introduce kids to historic Austin, though more geared for people who enjoy visiting historic houses that have historic furnishings. There is a free audio tour (done via phone) included in the price. They are currently not doing guided tours due to COVID (5/9/2021), and masks are currently required for any location in the building or on the grounds.

Lovely little museum in the heart of the city. The museum is located one of the oldest buildings in Austin Texas. The building itself is incredibly beautiful and historic and the art within is such a nice treat. Many local artists are highlighted here.
