    What makes it fun

Mayfield Park is a nature preserve that is full of rich history with an historic cottage from the 1870's. The gorgeous green grounds include lush gardens, wildlife, and trails. The park is located on a cliff overlooking Lake Austin. A perfect place to get away, enjoy the outdoors and relax surrounded by nature's beauty. Oh and keep an eye out for majestic peacocks that roam the grounds!

    A deeper dive

Mayfield Park is a beautiful oasis in the heart of Austin. The park includes an historic cottage, 2 acres of colorful cottage gardens with towering palm trees, brilliant peacocks and delicate water lilies, all blending in beautiful harmony.

Mayfield Park is the perfect venue for small/medium events such as weddings and other social gatherings, business conferences, workshops and retreats. The cottage and gardens are both wheelchair accessible, making it a great option for all.

Absolutely gorgeous park with a stunning garden that houses all these pretty birds! We were lucky enough to see the peacocks during their mating dance as they tried to woo the females. The nature trails are quiet and peaceful. Very shaded on a sunny day too. The lake itself is full of life and we saw a variety of pond sliders and soft shell turtles hanging out in what looked like a shallow nursery. Very romantic spot to take your significant other.

What an self pace experience to step back into history. One of oldest residences along side slave quarters attached is something heartbreaking but rich with culture. In person face to face experience of history is always one for my books.

A wonderful public garden with a surprisingly large trail. Unfortunately, when I visited, it happened to be 105 degrees outside so I quickly got heat exhaustion. Regardless, the peacocks are beautiful and mild mannered (so long as you maintain proper etiquette!). There's an albino peacock and if you come at the right time you might spot some peafowl with their chicks. The trail is great with peaceful views of the Colorado River and interesting elevation. Would love to revisit when the weather cools down a bit!

Based on my experience, the place has Cute decor and aesthetics, good music selection, good food and drink. I got the shrimp tacos and mango margarita and both were delicious. The tacos meal comes with rice and beans, and I wasn’t aware the beans would have bacon, meats and cheese in it so I didn’t eat that and instead wish I could’ve just had 3 tacos. I don’t think I’d be in a hurry to revisit here, but it’s not bad!
