AVOID—Worst wedding venue in Texas. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Barr Mansion scammed me and my wife out of $10,000. We booked during the height of the pandemic (October 2020, before the vaccine) and had to cancel due to the pandemic. At the time, legal provisions by the US Government made it illegal for us to have the number of guests (150) gather in that space. This was an unprecedented time and w had no choice but to cancel. Every other vendor (flowers, DJ, etc.) was understanding and gave us full refunds. Barr mansion was the only vendor who refused to refund our security deposit of $10,000. They had the nerve to say this even after our contract (force majeure clause) guaranteed refund AND they had directly stated in an email that we would get a refund if it was due to Covid. Read below a quote from their email:
“If we're cancelling because the date can no longer proceed as originally booked (group size limits, stay at home orders, etc.) you get back all deposits paid per the Force Majeure clause. . . .”
Well, they flat out lied. We even hired a lawyer and sent a legal notice and even then Barr mansion NEVER RESPONDED. Truly the scum of the earth. Terrible business practices. We couldn’t afford to sue, but you should know that you are NOT SAFE with this vendor. I would give them -10 stars if I could.
